In addition to laws about homeschooling, HSLDA monitors a wide range of issues that could affect the ability of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Our issues library shares what we have learned so that our members and friends can stay informed and join the fight to preserve homeschool freedom.

	College & Employment Despite considerable progress, homeschool graduates occasionally face difficulties when applying to colleges or seeking employment.		Federal Education Policy HSLDA opposes federal spending on education as well as attempts to regulate teaching methods and curriculum.
	Military HSLDA supports military families who homeschool and fights to ensure homeschool enlistees are recognized for their academic achievements.		Parental Rights HSLDA affirms the constitutional right of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children.
	Privacy Except in cases of compelling government interest, HSLDA believes a person’s right to privacy should always receive the highest protection.		Religious Freedom Religious freedom is a fundamental right, and many parents choose homeschooling as a result of their religious beliefs.
	Research Statistics, studies and demographic information on homeschooling.		State & Local Government Though many states provide great freedoms for homeschoolers, curfews, attendance laws and other restrictive policies can threaten those freedoms.
	Tax Policy There are no federal tax breaks for homeschooling, but some state and local laws offer relief.
