Senate Bill 392: An Act Regarding Child Welfare Investigation Procedures
Author:
Senator Madison
Summary:
This bill revises the Arkansas child welfare law in several respects. One of the provisions requires social workers to advise the alleged offender of the allegations made against him at the initial contact. This is in partial compliance with federal requirements under the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003. States must also implement training for social workers to protect the statutory and constitutional rights of families during investigations. This bill should have been amended to add the training provisions.
