Texas v. Leonard family
School district prosecutes homeschooling family
Filed: October 3, 2002, Houston.
Nature of Case: As a courtesy, the Leonard family notified the school district that they were going to homeschool their 12-year-old daughter, which is legal in Texas under the private school law. School officials charged the family with truancy, but after HSLDA represented the family in court, the judge dismissed all charges.
Status: Dismissed.
